Dot Fellowship - Friendship Dinners

Friendship dinner groups at Emmanuel are a wonderful way to get to know other members of our congregation. Whether you are new to Emmanuel or have been a regular worshiper you whole life, meeting people one-on-one in small groups (8 or 9) and sharing a meal allows us to get to know each other, much more than "Hi, how are you?" on Sundays. Groups are formed in September. Individuals who sign up are asked to identify the most convenient time to meet (weekday, weekend, no preference).

The names are divided into groups of 8 or 9 with one couple being "The Leader". Every effort is made to create a mix of long-time Emmanuel members, newer members, older people, younger people, singles and couples.

The leader calls members of the dinner group and gets the first date set and the food courses assigned. Everyone brings something each time: hors d'oeuvres, salad, dessert, wine - and usually the host provides the main course. Many hands make light work.

The leader also tries to help keep the group moving along with date picking and planning. The dinner groups make a commitment to meet 4 or 5 times until spring or summer, changing the dining location each time. The friendship dinners are a lot of fun!

If you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to call Kristin von Thelen through the church office at 540-456-6334.
